Finding Happiness in an Unhappy World
We live in a disturbed society to put things mildly. We are constantly being bombarded with negativity, violence, sadness, anger and harmful toxins! It is no wonder that so many people struggle to find and maintain happiness. Whether we realize it or not, living in such a negative environment has an immense impact on our personal well being. In a distorted effort to find happiness, many people search outside of themselves looking for the next thing to fill that emptiness they feel inside. A new car, house, tv set, vacation,... a simple cup of coffee, a glass of wine or a sugary snack ... Even a relationship with a new friend or lover! We may look forward to achieving some goal, but even the achievement of a goal is not true happiness! Ofcourse these things can cause us to feel happy temporarily, but this type of happiness is fleeting. We will always end up searching for the next thing or the next person to bring us happiness. In the end, we will still feel disappointed, unhappy and empty inside, because no one outside of ourselves can bring us true happiness! Happiness is something we must find and maintain within ourselves!
The problem is that we are living in a materialistic society whereby we are programmed to search for happiness outside of ourselves. We look to people and things to give us our happiness. When we do this, we give our power away and our happiness becomes out of our control! To understand how to find and maintain true happiness, we must first understand what happiness is. True happiness is not a thing, or a place or even a person...nor is it the temporary good feeling we get from these things! Happiness is an energy, a vibration and a frequency that we resonate! This frequency is created by our state of mind, which is affected by our thoughts, which in turn is affected by our perception of things. If we can control our perception or how we feel about things, we can control our thoughts, state of mind and thus the frequency that we resonate.
From a scientific stand point, the feeling of happiness is simply the release of certain chemicals or neurotransmitters in our brains. The four main 'feel good' chemicals are endorphins, oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine. Health problems can cause neurotransmitter imbalances which usually results in a mood disorder, brain fog, insomnia, pain, obesity, behavioral disturbances and/or hormonal imbalances. All of this makes finding and maintaining happiness particularly difficult! If you've suffered from a mood disorder like I have, particularly depression, than you know how difficult it can be to control your thoughts. Difficult...but not impossible!
In order to achieve and maintain happiness one must learn to resonate with the frequency of happiness, meaning one must shift their own vibration to a higher state. It takes practice, however when you learn to find and maintain this frequency, you can feel happiness regardless of any negativity that comes your way, regardless of the material possessions you own or the people that exist in your life! Ofcourse we are all still human beings and will continue to enjoy eating certain foods, spending time with certain people and buying things, but these things will not define our state of being. We will feel happy regardless.
You see, in reality we are all organic computers and we have the power to program ourselves. When you practice certain techniques, like observing and shifting your thought patterns, your brainwaves start to change and over time the feeling or frequency of happiness becomes stronger and easier to maintain. You actually become this frequency! You actually become happy! It's all a matter of programming! So how do you program yourself to be happy? I will discuss this in my next article! Stay tuned! Til next time...Peace and Blessings!
