How to Get Your Vitamins without Taking Actual Vitamins!
If you wish to experience optimal health then it would be in your best interest to get all of your necessary vitamins and minerals daily. Unfortunately we can’t always get what we need from food alone. Even taking vitamin supplements may not be enough. Oftentimes supplements contain additives and fillers that are even worse for our health. Sometimes these additives and fillers make it difficult to absorb the nutrients contained in the pill. Even worse, many of the vitamins in these supplements are synthetic which is not as beneficial for our body as natural vitamins. Some of these synthetic vitamins may actually cause vitamin deficiencies by competing with their natural counterparts. This actually happened to me when I took a synthetic B12 supplement (cyanocobalamin). It can also happen when you eat too many vitamin enriched processed foods. If anything, it's best not to eat any processed foods at all!
Nutrient deficiencies may be more common than we think! Some of the most common deficiencies to be on the look out for are calcium, vitamin D, potassium, iron, vitamin B12, folate and magnesium deficiencies. Most doctors and nutritionists will say that the best way to avoid or remedy nutrient deficiencies is to make sure you are eating a balanced, nutrient-rich diet. However if you are at an increased risk of a nutrient deficiency, you may benefit from taking a multivitamin. Since I have personally experienced the harm that can come from taking the wrong vitamins, I decided to take a different approach. Through my own research and experience I have found that certain super food-based nutrient powders (and oils) are an excellent way to get the nutrients that we need instead of taking vitamin supplements! These food-based nutrients are proven to have far higher levels of reabsorption by the body than traditional multi-vitamin pills. I have created a list of my favorites below:
1) Moringa Powder- Moringa powder is made from the freshly harvested leaves of the Moringa oleifera tree. Moringa powder is perhaps the most nutrient dense single food source on the planet. The balance of powerful antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and complete proteins deliver a potent boost of energy and increase the body's functioning in many ways. Moringa powder provides a substantial amount of iron, B vitamins, magnesium, potassium, calcium, vitamin A, vitamin C and protein. It also contains eight essential amino acids and other powerful antioxidants. Moringa contains more than 90 nutrients and 46 different antioxidants which make it an excellent source of nutritive ingredients.
2) Hydrilla Verticillata- Hydrilla Verticillata is a fresh water aquatic plant loaded with hard-to-get vitamins, minerals & antioxidants. With 425 mcg of Vitamin B12 (7,750% DV) and 624 mg of Calcium (62.4% DV) per tablespoon, Hydrilla is the most concentrated food source of these nutrients on the planet. In addition to its Vitamin B12 and Calcium content, Hydrilla is also an incredibly rich source of Vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B6, E, magnesium, molybdenum, iron, silica, zinc, selenium, polysaccharides and chlorophyll. A complete protein, Hydrilla is an excellent source of lysine, which is usually deficient on plant-based diets. Quite simply, Hydrilla is unparalleled in its nutrient density, outshining even established superfoods such as wheatgrass, spirulina, chlorella, & other blue-green algaes.
3) Bee Pollen- Bee pollen contains over a dozen vitamins, 28 minerals, 11 enzymes and co-enzymes, and 14 fatty acids,... specifically vitamin A (beta-carotene) (carotenoids), Vitamin B1 (thiamine), Vitamin B2 (riboflavin), Vitamin B3 (niacin), Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), Vitamin B12, Biotin, Vitamin C (ascorbic acid), Vitamin D & Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Choline & Inositol, Folate, Rutin, Vitamin PP (nicotinicamide). Minerals in bee pollen are Calcium & Iron, Phosphorus & Copper, Potassium, Magnesium & Sodium, Manganese & Selenium, Silica, Sulphur & Titanium, Zinc, Iodine, Boron & Molydbenum. Bee pollen truly is Mother Nature's multi-vitamin! I personally stopped using bee pollen (and honey) because my acupuncturist/ herbalist told me that it's not good for my specific conditions (too much fire). Otherwise bee pollen is awesome!
Those are my top 3 multi-vitamin superfood choices! Believe me, you will feel the difference! For extra vitamin C I recommend Camu Camu powder. For extra magnesium and iodine I recommend Dr. Sebi's Bromide powder which contains Irish Sea Moss and Bladderwrack. Red Marine Algae is also good for iodine! Organic Sulfur and/ or DMSO is great for getting much needed sulfur that has been depleted from the soil. Goji berry powder is pretty amazing too! It contains 18 different amino acids, plus over 20 other trace minerals, including zinc, iron, phosphorus and riboflavin (B2). It also contains antioxidants as well as Vitamin C and Vitamin A! Acai berry powder is particularly rich in calcium and vitamin A! Lotus root powder is rich in iron, vitamin B6, riboflavin, vitamin c and copper!
Remember... Besides these superfood powders, don't forget your good fats! Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids! EPA, DHA and ALA! I take Fish oil, Cod liver oil, flax seed oil, coconut oil and olive oil everyday! Cod liver oil actually contains a nice amount of vitamin D3, E and A.
Overall, I recommend an organic/ non gmo plant based diet plus all of the wonderful superfood powders and oils I just mentioned! Did I forget anything important? If so, please tell me in the comments section below! Wishing you the best health ever! Peace and Blessings!
