Laugh Now, Cry Later
Are you familiar with the story of the tortoise and the hare? It's one of Aesop's famous fables. As the story goes, there once was a hare who bragged about how fast he can run. A slow tortoise challenged him to a race and ended up defeating him. The reason is because the hare was so overly confident that he decided to take a nap in the middle of the race. The slow tortoise walked and walked until he crossed the finish line. The hare was finally awakened by the loud cheering of all the animals in the forest. The hare tried to catch up but it was too late! The lesson of this story is that slow and steady wins the race. Ofcourse there's quite a few other lessons embedded in this fable as well. For instance, being overly confident, perhaps even cocky, can have it's drawbacks, especially if one's ego is blinding them to their opponents strengths.
This happens often in life, whereby one may be construed as the underdog in a situation only to be victorious in the end. Many a time this so-called underdog will get laughed at by others. They will be the punchline of the joke for those who seem to believe this person is weak. It's a terrible thing we have going on in this society when people gang up on someone who is different, or someone who expresses beliefs that are contrary to the norm. But many a time, this so-called weak underdog proves to not be so weak after all. Like the tortoise in the race with the hare, the underdog surprises everyone in the end. And those who laughed will no longer be laughing. As I like to say, “Laugh Now, Cry Later.”
So remember folks, this is a warning! You may think your ahead in a situation. All signs may appear to be in your favor. You may even become overly confident, perhaps cocky. You think you're gonna win, however anything can change at any given moment! If you are blinded by your own ego to the point where you are unable to see your opponents chess moves, you may very likely end up losing in the end. And if you are winning because you are lying and cheating, there are karmic repercussions to that as well! But that's a whole other story. So remember...if you are not on top of your game, which includes being in control of your emotions and your ego, in the end you may very well slip up and lose everything you've worked so hard to gain. You may believe your opponent is weak and there's no chance in hell that they will defeat you...but allow me to remind you...laugh now, cry later. Get your mind right and all you desire will come to you!
