Clearing Out Old Clutter & Attachments
This past week it was necessary for me to use the internet at my neighborhood public library since my computer had completely malfunctioned. I was enjoying my new routine, particularly because I was spending way less time on the computer than usual. But then something weird happened... one of my email accounts got hacked....leading to one of my old amazon accounts getting hacked as well as my current facebook page. But oddly enough, the hacking didn't really cause any damage. I suppose this is because I caught wind of what was going on pretty quickly. But my email account that got hacked... well...it's a very very old email account. In fact, it's the first email account I've ever had. I signed up for it almost 20 years ago, right around the time when the internet had just started to gain momentum. And even though I don't even use this email account anymore, except as a login for certain online accounts like facebook, I've somehow managed to hold on to this email account for a particularly long time. In fact, I've been considering deleting this account for years now. But for some reason I've had quite a bit of difficulty letting this account go.
Well, there's a lot of memories you know? Old friends, family, photographs, logins and passwords, etc. tied to this account. I don't want to lose anything important. But then I got to thinking about this account being hacked and the message that the universe was trying to relay to me. I was in my meditation pyramid meditating when it dawned on me... This old email account is electronic clutter. It's filled with old stale energy and quite a bit of negative energy as well. The universe was trying to tell me that I need to let this old energy go. And now that were in the last shadow phase of Mercury Retrograde, it's the perfect time to clear out old clutter and attachments. Yes, I know, we usually consider clutter to be physical, ex: piles of clothing on the floor, dishes in the sink, a closet full of clothing that barely gets worn, etc. FYI I am still dealing with all of this clutter as well! Lol But in my opinion... Holding on to an old unnecessary email account that doesn't even get used anymore is a form of clutter. Electronic clutter if you will. It's an attachment to the past that needs to be released into the universe so that I can move on to the next phase of my life. Attachments, whether physical, mental, emotional, etc. can definitely have a stagnating effect... and I personally am quite opposed to stagnation!
This feeling is quite reminiscent of the time I decided to give up my 917 New York number. It was the first cell phone number I ever had, and I held on to this number for many years. I had trouble letting it go. I thought... perhaps someone from my past would try to contact me about something important on this phone and not be able to get through to me, right? But I remember finally realizing that there was a lot of negative energy, people and situations associated with this phone number. I came to terms with the fact that it was time for me to release my attachment to the phone number, and my past, and move on. And so I finally made the decision to give up my 917 number. And you know what? I don't miss it at all! So why should I miss an email account that I don't even use anymore! It seems silly doesn't it?
I believe that clearing out old, stale and negative energy is an important, perhaps even necessary step, if one is to manifest an existence full of abundance, positivity, light and love. These attachments to the past, which no longer serve us, can hold us back from achieving our greatest desires in life. Even something as simple as holding on to a teddy bear that was given to you as a gift from an ex boyfriend can be stagnating. We must keep in mind that all objects carry energy. Everything is energy. Even virtual things like emails carry energy. If the energy is not on the vibration of what you wish to attract in life, it would be in your best interest to let this energy go.
So finally, I scrolled through my old email account and saved what I considered to be important. Funny thing... as I was scrolling I found a few emails stating that my aol account would be deactivated soon. Spam ofcourse... However this was yet another message from the universe letting me know that it was time to let this email account go! As I was preparing to terminate my email account, I decided to take things one step further and clear out some internet clutter. I still had a few random old membership websites I was associated with that popped up on google when you typed in my name. I hadn't used these sites in years and had no need for them anymore. I decided to let those websites go too. So I retrieved my logins and passwords and deactivated those accounts... and finally I contacted aol online, took a deep breath and clicked on a deactivate my email account button. In that moment I released all old, stale, negative clutter and attachments associated with that email account and my past. I am lighter now for having done so! Time to move onward and up. Peace and Blessings!
